Nations Under God

As America and Great Britain enter the long war on terrorism the words of Franklin Delano Roosevelt may still have power: "We have nothing to fear but fear itself."
The 23rd Psalm says: "Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for thou are with me." Let us all pray for wisdom and courage for Prime Minister Blair, President Bush, our elected officials , and our military during this great crisis. Let us pray alone, let us pray on our knees, let us pray with our families at the dinner table, let us pray in our places of worship, and let all faiths pray in public prayer vigils for continued divine protection.
It seems inconceivable but, had all Al Qaida's plans come to fruition, America's situation could be much worse. God is merciful. Let us pray for God's continued protection and to find ways to assist the many malnourished refugees, tribes, and oppressed females of Afghan society.
Although we are strong nations let us remain humble. Despite our tremendous military power and technological edge over Al Qaida and the Taliban we might benefit from reflecting on the scriptures which say: "Unless God guards the city the watchman watcheth in vain." "I look to the hills where cometh my help. My help is in the name of the Lord." May God save the Queen and may bless the United States of America.
